California has a history of excellence when it comes to agriculture. We grow world-renowned food right here in the rich soil of the Central Valley. We recognize that the future of agriculture depends on science, technology and individuals who have a desire to apply new methods.

Below is a list of agriculture related scholarships available to our students

Ag Scholar - Student Scholarship

West Hills College Coalinga offers a new scholarship to high school ag students who have demonstrated a desire to pursue a career in this field. Multiple awards will be granted by WHCC’s Farm of the Future.
  • $6,500 annually ($3,250 per semester) covers tuition, books, and allowable personal expenses
  • Ag Scholars need to maintain enrollment and grade standards
  • There is a 32-hour monthly community service requirement
  • Awards based not on merit or needs, or high school GPA, but on sincere interest in the field
  • Applicants submit an essay or short video describing their dedication to California Agriculture
  • The application period is open, applications will be reviewed at the end of each month
  • This is a unique opportunity to make a difference and study at the Farm of the Future

Farm of the Future Scholarship

Five annual scholarships in the amount of $500 - $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at WHC Coalinga
  • Student must be enrolled in WHC Coalinga Precision Ag program or be an Ag major
  • Student must complete FAFSA
  • Student must submit a letter of recommendation from program instructor at WHC Coalinga Farm of the Future
  • Precision Ag or Ag Major
  • Minimum GPA 2.5

Students are selected by the Farm of the Future

Henry Mayo Newhall Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at WHC Coalinga
  • Student must be entering freshman or current freshman
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Preference to students concentrating on Ag and Ag related studies who are from Firebaugh, Merced, Santa Maria , or King City

Stephen Orradre Memorial Scholarship

Two annual scholarships in the amount of $250 to $500

1)

  • One scholarship for continuing student in the amount of $250
  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at WHC Coalinga
  • Ag or pre-veterinary Major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

2)

  • One scholarship for a transfer student in the amount of $500
  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at WHC Coalinga
  • Ag or pre-veterinary Major

Bob Viets Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at WHC Coalinga
  • Student must be enrolled in at 6+ units of Ag or Ag related course study each semester
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Student must have attended an accredited high school in the United States for a minimum of one year
  • Preference given to students whose parent is currently (or within the last 6 months) has been employed in the ag/ranching industry in California

RCO Ag Credit Endowed Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) or part time (6+ units) at any WHC location
  • Student must be entering freshman, continuing at WHC,  planning to continue collegiate education or vocational program

Jack and Bernice Woolf Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Students must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at any WHC location
  • Student must be continuing at WHC, or planning to continue collegiate education or vocational program
  • Ag Science & Technology Major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Preference given to student athletes, student body officers, club activities and WHC district high school graduates
