West Hills College board seeks nominations for bond oversight committee members
With the passage of local higher education bond measure last November, the West Hills Community College District is required by law to establish a committee of local citizens to oversee spending of the bond proceeds.

Chancellor Frank Gornick said that committees will be formed for West Hills College Lemoore and West Hills College Coalinga and that each committee must have a representative from specific interest groups including business, senior citizens, students, college organizations and bona-fide taxpayer’s association.
Gornick also said that there must be a minimum of two members of the community-at-large.
The groups are required to meet at least once each year to review bond projects and expenditures. Gornick said he anticipates that the board may actually meet more frequently than that due to a high level of local interest in the colleges and their projects.
The WHCC oversight committee covers for the Coalinga/Huron area and the West Hills College Lemoore area includes Riverdale, Stratford and Avenal.
Anyone interested in serving on the Coalinga committee is invited to contact WHCC President Willard Lewallen at 559 934-2200 (willardlewallen@whccd.edu). Those in the Lemoore area should contact WHCL President Don Warkentin at (559) 925-3205 (donwarkentin@whccd.edu).
West Hills Community College District serves the west side of the San Joaquin Valley and is part of the California Community College System. Its two colleges, West Hills College Coalinga, which includes North District Center, Firebaugh, and West Hills College Lemoore, serve more than 7,000 students on campus and online each semester.
