Physical Geology With Lab
GEOL 001 is an introduction to the principles of geology with emphasis on Earth
processes. This course focuses on the internal structure and origin of the Earth
and the processes that change and shape it. The laboratory component focuses on the
identification of rocks and minerals, topographic and geologic map exercises demonstrating
the work of water, wind, ice and gravity and effects of tectonic activity.9C-ID GEOL

Historical Geology
GEOL 003 is an introduction to Earth's history and the life it supports with a
laboratory. Subjects include geologic dating, plate tectonics, stratigraphy, fossils,
biological evolution, the planet's origin and the processes that have influenced paleogeography
during the past 4.6 billion years.(C-ID GEOL 111) (AA/AS, CSU, UC)

Geology Field Course General
Geology 010 is one in a series of week-long field trips to areas of geological
interest, including but not limited to Death Valley, Grand Canyon and Yosemite National
Park. Emphasis is on the geologic aspects of the natural earth around us and how
an understanding of geologic principles is obtained.(AA/AS,CSU)
