I am truly honored and excited to return to the West Hills Community College District,
a place that has always held a special significance in my heart. Having spent nearly
two decades working alongside the dedicated faculty and staff here, I am filled with
a deep sense of pride and responsibility as I step into this leadership role.
My journey with the Central Valley has been long and meaningful, as my roots in communities
on the west and south sides of the Central Valley run deep. Over the years, I’ve had
the privilege of working in various capacities within the district, gaining valuable
insights into the unique strengths and needs of our local students and their families.
I’ve witnessed firsthand the tremendous potential within our communities, and this
connection fuels my passion for helping our region thrive.
As a West Hills College graduate who completed undergraduate and graduate degrees
at both Fresno State and Bakersfield State Universities, I have a personal understanding
of the transformative power of education in our region. My passion for the communities
our district serves is fueled by the potential I see in our students. The constant
reminder that I was once in our students’ shoes will push me to do everything in my
power to ensure their success.
I am deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable educational environment
where every student can thrive. I will work tirelessly to remove barriers to success,
provide targeted support for underserved populations, and create pathways that empower
all students to achieve their full potential. I will also strive to ensure that our
colleges and center are accessible and responsive to the diverse needs of our student
body, including first-generation college students, working adults, and those facing
various challenges.
Our community colleges play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Central Valley.
As we look ahead, I commit to fostering an environment where innovation thrives, inclusivity
is paramount, and every student has the support needed to achieve their academic and
career aspirations. Together, we will continue building on our rich history, ensuring
our programs and services meet the evolving needs of the workforce while supporting
the diverse and talented students who seek to improve their lives through education.
Thank you for your continued commitment to this shared mission, and I look forward
to working alongside each of you as we embark on this exciting new chapter.
Sincerely,
Dr. Robert Pimentel
Chancellor West Hills Community College District
