  • West Hills Community College District is committed to providing high quality early care and education programs throughout their service areas to ensure families have access to care for their child; children are prepared for their future education; and the college student is exposed to the highest of standards in a laboratory setting.

The early care and education programs are located at Child Development Centers in Coalinga, Lemoore, and Firebaugh.  These centers will evolve to exemplify best practices in early education; serve as a model for other educational institutes; and become accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

  • Teachers and staff who care. That’s what you’ll find at the various West Hills College Child Development centers. Every day, our staff works hard to teach children everything from self-esteem to confidence to cognitive skills. Whether it’s outdoor play time, group time, creative exercises or learning new words, we ensure children in our program are provided nurturing support all day long.

We have five interrelated goals that make the whole of our program:

    • To provide high-quality early care and education emphasizing social, emotional, cognitive, language, literacy, and physical growth and development for each child
    • To provide early intervention for children with special needs in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team (our staff, the parents, the local school district, and various service agencies)
    • To enhance family capacity by providing services and education for parents while they pursue their career and/or educational goals and to develop a true partnership with each family
    • To be an exemplary model of best practices in early education and serve as a laboratory school for students enrolled in courses, which are related to children and their development
    • To support early childhood educators throughout the District with their professional and personal growth.
