West Hills Community College District Implements Smoke-Free Policy

Effective August 1, 2024, West Hills Community College District (WHCCD) will implement a new smoke-free and tobacco-free policy across its campuses, including Lemoore College and Coalinga College. The WHCCD Board of Trustees approved this policy change on March 12, 2024, to foster a healthier campus environment.

The new policy establishes that WHCCD will be a completely smoke and tobacco-free environment, prohibiting the use of any tobacco products on District property. This change underscores the District's dedication to ensuring the well-being of all students, faculty, and staff.

Students looking for support in quitting smoking or using tobacco products can access a variety of resources through the Food and Basic Needs web pages of their respective colleges. Additionally, both Lemoore College and Coalinga College provide counseling and referral services to help students find their needed assistance.

WHCCD also promotes the use of the California Smokers Helpline, a free resource offering support and guidance for those aiming to quit smoking or using tobacco. The helpline can be reached at 1-800-NO-BUTTS or www.nobutts.org.
