West Hills Community College District Joins Fresno State Bulldog Bound Program to Expand Transfer Opportunities

The West Hills Community College District is proud to announce its participation in the Fresno State Bulldog Bound program, expanding access to a clear and supported transfer pathway for students across the Central Valley.

Chancellor Dr. Robert Pimentel, Lemoore College President James Preston, and Coalinga College President Dr. Carla Tweed joined higher education leaders from throughout the region to celebrate the launch of the program, which is now being extended to include community college students.

The Bulldog Bound program, developed by California State University, Fresno, is designed to provide students with a structured and achievable path to a bachelor’s degree. The program offers guaranteed admission to Fresno State for students who meet California State University transfer requirements, along with ongoing support to help them successfully transition to the university.

Through Bulldog Bound, students gain access to early engagement opportunities, academic advising, application assistance, and resources that guide them from enrollment through transfer. The program is built to remove uncertainty from the transfer process and ensure students have a clear, tangible path to higher education.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to creating clear and attainable pathways for our students,” said Dr. Robert Pimentel, Chancellor of the West Hills Community College District. “Bulldog Bound provides clarity, support, and confidence, helping students see that a university degree is within reach. We are proud to join Fresno State and our regional partners in expanding opportunity for all.”

Students at Lemoore College and Coalinga College will benefit from dedicated transfer support, early connection to Fresno State, and access to tools that simplify the path from community college to a four-year degree.

“At Lemoore College, we are committed to creating flexible and accessible pathways that meet students where they are,” said James Preston, President of Lemoore College. “Bulldog Bound strengthens that commitment by giving our students a clear plan for what comes next and the support to get there.”

“For many of our students, especially those in rural communities, navigating the transfer process can feel overwhelming,” said Dr. Carla Tweed, President of Coalinga College. “This program provides structure, guidance, and opportunity. It is a powerful step forward in making higher education attainable for all in our region.”

The Bulldog Bound program builds on Fresno State’s broader efforts to support student success through early outreach, advising, and resources that help students prepare for university-level work and transition with confidence.
