Lemoore Scholarships

The scholarships listed below are available to Lemoore College students. The criteria for each scholarship is listed.  All scholarships are awarded on a two semester basis with one half being paid on the first day of each semester upon verification of enrollment.

AP Architects Scholarship
  • Two scholarships in the amount of $250
  • Students must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Preferred Business Administration Major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

 

Dream Achievers
  • Three scholarships in the amount of $250
  • Students must be enrolled full time (15+ units) or part time (6+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Students must submit a current CA Dream act application
  • Students need to meet CA AB 540 criteria

 

Diane B. Dolata Nursing Scholarship
  • Must be taking 12 units or more
  • Have a GPA of 3.25 or higher
  • Must be a Nursing Major
  • Must be a West Hills Graduating StudentMust write a 500 word essay on how you overcame barriers/difficulties during your WHCL Nursing education, either personal or professional to complete this program. Please write on how you demonstrated resilience and persistence to overcome this difficulty, how you have shown compassion and caring to show how that was accomplished. Provide some details on any volunteer service or assistance you have done for community programs or agencies and how you worked to improve the health of others. Finally, please detail how you will move on to complete your BSN degree.

 

Hazel Babb Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Two annual scholarships in the amount of $600 each

  • Student must be accepted and enrolled into the nursing program at Lemoore College

 

National Science Foundation S-STEM CORES Scholarship
  • Up to $5,000/semester ($10,000/year) (4 semester max)
  • Discipline faculty mentor
  • S.I./tutoring (Math 1A – Intro. To Calculus)
  • Cohort meetings/seminars (one per month)
  • Field trips (one per semester)
  • Conference attendance: 2 students/year
  • Paid research opportunities: $1500/student

Britz, Inc. STEAM Scholarship

3 annual scholarships at each location, as well as one available at any location

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Degree seeking students (AS/S or higher)
  • Student must be science, technology,engineering, agriculture, or math majors (STEAM)
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • These scholarships are for serious students who expect to complete a degree and find gainful employment in one of the listed fields

 

Community Education Scholarship

Two annual scholarships in the amount of $250 each

  • Student must be enrolled part time (6+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Minimum GPA 2.5

 

Corcoran Community Foundation Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $250

Students are selected by Corcoran High School
  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Entering Freshman ONLY
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Student must have attended Corcoran High School in 11th and 12th grade and participated in student activities and list those activities and years of participation
  • Student must submit a personal statement including your career objectives and educational goals
  • Student must submit one letter of recommendation from a Corcoran High School teacher, administrator or member of the Corcoran Community
  • Student must include a copy of high school transcript

 

 
CSEA Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled in 6+ units or full time at Lemoore College
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Only classified employees (CSEA members) and their family (children, grandchildren) are eligible

 

Alda Diniz Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $300

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Student must provide a brief bio describing what your Portuguese heritage means to you and describe your family’s immigration and settlement in CA

 

Charles Freeman Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled 12+ units at Lemoore College
  • Minimum GPA 3.25-4.0
  • Students must be graduating from the WHCL Nursing program and enrolled in and provide verification of enrollment of a BSN program.

 

Bill & Jeanne Gundacker Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $250

  • Students must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Student must be an entering freshman
  • Scholarship is for foster youth or graduates of Kings County Community School

 

Hospitality Management Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Student must be enrolled in 6+ units of Culinary course work
  • Minimum GPA  3.2
  • HRCM Major
  • Student must have affiliation with Central Valley Hospitality Club

 

Edna L. and Nick Ivans Endowed Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $300

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Preferred Science Major
  • Preferred - person involved with or supportive of issues involving women majoring in Business or Science

Robert & Collette Keller Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000 (Book or Tuition Voucher ONLY)

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education or vocational program
  • Minimum GPA  3.5
  • First priority goes to family members of Keller Auto Center employees
  • Second priority goes to those with a family member working in the automotive industry
  • Students must be graduates of Coalinga, Lemoore, Hanford, Riverdale, Avenal and surrounding area high schools

 

Lemoore Kiwanis Club Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $600

  • Students must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • First priority to continuing students
  • Second priority to entering Freshman
  • Student must have financial need; be involved in campus activities or organizations; assist college staff or involved in athletics

 

Lemoore Lions Club Scholarship

Six annual scholarships in the amount of $500 each

1)

  • Three scholarships to entering freshman
  • Students must be a graduate of Lemoore High School
  • Students must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Minimum GPA 3.5
  • Preferred students involved in community service activities
  • Priority to students involved with the Leo’s Club at LHS
  • Priority to a student with a family member currently involved with Lemoore Lions Club
  • Difficulty of classes considered

  • Three scholarships to graduating WHCL students who are transferring to a four year college/university
  • Students must show proof of enrollment (15 units) to a four year college/university
  • Student must be a graduate from Lemoore High School
  • Minimum GPA 3.5
  • Preferred students involved in community service activities
  • Priority to students involved with the Leo’s Club at LHS
  • Priority to a student with a family member currently involved with Lemoore Lions Club
  • Difficulty of classes considered

Scholarship recipients will be expected to attend a Lions Club meeting to receive recognition.

 Ron Mitchell Art Scholarship

A renewable scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education in Art
  • Student must be an Art major at Lemoore College
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Student must have completed 24 or more “degree applicable” semester units (or the equivalent) at the time of the scholarship disbursement.

 

Bernard Osher Scholarship

Up to 16 scholarships in amounts of up to $1,100

  • Students must have completed 24 or more “degree applicable” semester units (or the equivalent) at the time of the initial scholarship disbursement
  • Students must be enrolled in at least six or more units at WHC during all terms in which the award remains active
  • Students must receive a CCC Board of Governor’s Fee Waiver
  • Students must complete 75% of their units with a 2.0 or better
  • Awards will be adjusted on enrollment status and determined as follows:
    • Full time (12+ units per term) = up to $550/semester
    • Three quarter time (9 – 11.9 units per term) = up to $412.50/semester
    • Half time (6 – 8.99 units per term) = up to $275/semester
  • Students may apply for the scholarship a second year
 
Robert S. Palacio Scholarship

Three annual scholarships in the amount of $500 each

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education
  • Sociology major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

 

Gary Scherer Book Voucher Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $250 (book voucher)

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • CIS major preferred
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
 
Adrienne Simas Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $250

  • Student must be enrolled at Lemoore College
  • Student must be an active, verified DSPS student
  • DSPS students are considered full time at 9 units
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
Don Warkentin Memorial Endowed Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled part (15+ units) or full time at Lemoore College
  • Student must be transferring to CSU or UC
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Preference given to students involved in athletics, student government, and campus/community activities
Warkentin WHCL General Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $400

Eight annual scholarships in the amount of $200

  • Students must be enrolled part time (6+ units) or full time at Lemoore College
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Entering freshman or student intending to continue collegiate education
Watts Family Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $300

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education
  • Child Development major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

 

West Hills College Faculty Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of up to $500

  • Student must be enrolled part or full time at Coalinga College
  • Scholarship for full time (15+ units) student is $500
  • Scholarship for part time student is $250
  • First priority goes to a family member of a WHCCD faculty member
  • Second priority goes to a family member of a WHCCD employee
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

 

Lemoore College General Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $400

Eight annual scholarships in the amount of $200

  • Student(s) must be enrolled part time (6+ units) or full time (15+ units) at Lemoore College
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Entering freshman or student intending to continue collegiate education
 
Kay and Gene Yenger Endowed Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled in at least 12 units at Lemoore College
  • Student must be a second year student at Lemoore College
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

Cathy Barabe Student Engagement Award

One annual award in the amount of $250

  • Student must be enrolled at any WHC location
  • Award will be presented to a student who exemplifies the spirit and dedication to assisting the community we serve
Robert "Bob" Clement Athletic Achievement Award

One annual award in the amount of $250

  • Student must be enrolled at any WHC Location
  • Award will be presented to a student athlete who exemplifies the sportsmanship, teamwork, citizenship, and courage to go beyond athletic talent and contribute to the well-being of their college and community

 

California League of Food Producers
  • One scholarship in the amount of $500
  • Students must be enrolled full time (15+ units) or part time (6+ units) at any WHC location
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Scholarship is intended for students working towards a degree in Maintenance Mechanics

 

Wakefield Everett Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $100

  • Student must be enrolled at any WHC location
  • Humanities major
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education in Humanities
  • Student must be graduating that academic year
  • Minimum GPA 3.75

 

High School Equivalency Testing Scholarship

Scholarships available at the cost of high school equivalency test

  • Available to any student who is enrolled in a WHCCD program to complete high school equivalency who doesn't have the financial resources to pay for the test fee
  • Students are not required to be an enrolled WHC student - just involved in one of the programs offered by the district or the Westside Institute of Technology to gain high school equivalency
  • Students must be recommended by their high school equivalency instructor and must have two letters of recommendation and provide evidence of low income status
  • Requires recommendation of HSE instructor

 

Ed Marco Veterans Scholarship

Three annual scholarships in the amount of $1,200 each

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at any WHC location
  • First priority to entering freshman
  • Second priority to continuing community college student
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Student must meet financial need
  • Student must complete FASFA application
  • Student must provide documentation of military service of at least 4 years
  • Student must not qualify or be eligible for GI benefits
  • Scholarship does not apply to Active Duty service members

 

Teresa Anne Mendes Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at any WHC location
  • Student must be a graduate from Riverdale High School
  • Student must be entering freshman and planning to continue collegiate education
  • Minimum GPA 3.2
Jackie Navarro Memorial Scholarship

Two annual scholarships in the amount of $450

  • Student must be enrolled part time (6+ units) or full time (15+ units) at any WHC location
  • Student must an entering freshman who intends to continue their collegiate education
  • Must reside in either Coalinga or Huron and be a graduate from Coalinga High School, Chesnut High School, or Cambridge High School.
  • Minimum GPA 2.5

 

Padilla Family Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $300

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at any WHC location
  • Priority given to Avenal High School graduates
  • Student must be entering freshman, continuing at WHC, or planning to continue collegiate education
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

 

RCO Ag Credit Endowed Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) or part time (6+ units) at any WHC location
  • Student must be entering freshman, continuing at WHC,  planning to continue collegiate education or vocational program
  • Student must be enrolled in an agriculture program

 

Jack and Bernice Woolf Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Students must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at any WHC location
  • Student must be continuing at WHC, or planning to continue collegiate education or vocational program
  • Ag Science & Technology major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Preference given to student athletes, student body officers, club activities and WHC district high school graduates

 

Recurrent Energy Scholarship

Scholarships in the amount of $500

  • Students must be enrolled at least part time (6+ units) at any WHC location
  • Student must be a Tranquillity High School student or graduate
  • Must have an expressed intention to pursue a career in renewable energy, whether it be installation, project development, management, operations and maintenance, communications, project finance/accounting, or research fields
  • Minimum GPA 2.75

 

The Corcoran Promise Scholarship

Scholarship to pay for a Corcoran High School graduate's first year at West Hills College

  • Available for any student graduating from Corcoran High School and enrolling at WHC during fall or spring of their freshman year of college
  • No minimum GPA requirement
  • Scholarship recipients will be expected to conduct 10 hours community service at a Corcoran civic organization each semester
  • Recipients will have the opportunity to participate in a college preparation program: M3 Intervention, which focuses on math, money and time management. This service will be provided free of cost.
