The scholarships listed below all use the following West Hills Foundation Scholarship Application.

North District Center, Firebaugh Scholarships

 

The scholarships listed below are available to West Hills College, North District Center students.  North District Center students are also Coalinga College students and are eligible for Coalinga College scholarships. The criteria for each scholarship is listed.  All scholarship are awarded on a two semester basis with one half being paid on the first day of each semester upon verification of enrollment.

 

Britz, Inc. STEAM Scholarship

3 annual scholarships at each location as well as one available at any location

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at WHC, North District Center
  • Degree seeking students (AS/S or higher)
  • Student must be science, technology,engineering, agriculture, or math majors (STEAM)
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • These scholarships are for serious students who expect to complete a degree and find gainful employment in one of the listed fields

 

Larry Gage Scholarship
Students are selected by the Firebaugh Rotary Club

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at WHC, North District Center
  • Student must be a second year student intending to continue collegiate education
  • Student is required to have 10 hours of verified community service for Firebaugh Rotary Club and 20 hours of verified community service for a non-profit organization
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

 

Firebaugh Center Scholarship

Five annual scholarships in the amount of $500 each

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) or part time (6+ units) at WHC and must attend a majority of their classes at North District Center
  • Entering freshman or continuing community college student
  • Any major
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Submit an essay of no more than 500 words covering all of the topics: briefly describe your educational goals, describe your current and past community involvement (office held, club/team memberships, projects, etc.), describe your work experience (work or volunteer), what are your career aspirations and why have you selected this field, what are your overall plans for the future?

 

Mike Rowley Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $300

  • Student must be enrolled part time (6+ units) at WHC, North District Center
  • Student must be continuing community college or enrolled in a vocational program at Firebaugh Center
  • Business Major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

 

The following scholarships are available to all Coalinga College students

 

ASB Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $200 to a transfer student only

Two annual scholarships in the amount of $100

 

Coalinga Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Five annual scholarships in the amount of $250 each

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must be continuing and have completed two semesters or intend to continue collegiate education
  • Business Major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

 

CSEA Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled 12+ units or 6+ units at Coalinga College
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Only classified employees (CSEA members) and their family (children, grandchildren) are eligible
 
Barbara Devine Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled at Coalinga College
  • Student must be a graduate of Coalinga High School, Faith Christian Academy or Pleasant Valley Day school

 

Farm of the Future Scholarship
Students are selected by the Farm of the Future

Five annual scholarships in the amount of $500 - $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must be enrolled in Coalinga College Precision Ag program or be an Ag major
  • Student must complete FASFA
  • Student must submit a letter of recommendation from program instructor at Coalinga College Farm of the Future
  • Minimum GPA 2.5

 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $250 (Book Voucher ONLY)

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must submit a letter of recommendation from the Coalinga College Athletic Director

 

Forth Family Endowed Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education
  • Social Science or English Major
  • Minimum GPA 3.5
  • Preference given to student athletes, student body officers, club activities and WHC District high school graduates

 

Marlon Hall Jr. Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must have attended an accredited high school in the United States for a minimum of one year (excluding California) prior to attending Coalinga College
  • When applying, student must be full time Coalinga College freshman who will receive their first scholarship payment to be applied to their first semester of their second year as a full time registered student at Coalinga College
  • Minimum GPA 2.7 during the first year at Coalinga College
  • Student must be a documented participant in one or more of the following student activities: intercollegiate athletics, student government, Coalinga College organized student club

 

Ann Harris Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education
  • Preferred theater or performing arts, film, fine arts, hotel/restaurant, culinary or any major in the entertainment oriented industry
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

 

International Students Scholarship

Two annual scholarships in the amount of $250

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must be continuing community college at Coalinga College
  • Student must write an essay describing why they decided to study in the United States and Coalinga College
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
 
Edna L. and Nick Ivans Endowed Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $300

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Students must intend to continue collegiate education in Business or Science
  • Student must be involved with or supportive of issues involving women majoring in Business or Science

 

J.D. Johnson Memorial Rodeo Scholarship
Students are selected by the Rodeo Boosters

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500 - $1,000

  • Student must be full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must be pursuing their associate degree and/or enrolled in a vocational program
  • Student must be active in Coalinga College Rodeo program
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

 

Robert & Collette Keller Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000 (Book or Tuition Voucher ONLY)

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education or vocational
  • Minimum GPA  3.5
  • First Priority goes to family members of Keller Auto Center employees
  • Second priority goes to those with a family member working in the automotive industry

 

Ron Mitchell Art Scholarship

A renewable scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education in Art
  • Student must be an Art Major at Coalinga College
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Student must have completed 24 or more “degree applicable” semester units (or the equivalent) at the time of the scholarship disbursement.

 

Mouren Family Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Students must be continuing community college
  • Priority given to qualified applicants with family members working in the Mouren Farming Enterprises including Bill Mouren Enterprises, William J. Mouren Farming, Coalinga Feed Yard Inc., Mouren Family Farms and Anderson Orchards
Norine Oliver Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education
  • Education, Political Science, History or Social Science Majors
  • Minimum GPA 2.5

 

Stephen Orradre Memorial Scholarship

Two annual scholarships in the amount of $250 to $500

1)

  • One scholarship for continuing Coalinga College Student in the amount of $250
  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Ag or pre-veterinary Major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

2)

  • One scholarship for $500
  • Student must be transferring from Coalinga Collegeand enrolling in a four-year college
  • Ag or pre-veterinary Major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

 

Bernard Osher Scholarship

Up to 16 scholarships in amounts of up to $1,100

  • Students must have completed 24 or more “degree applicable” semester units (or the equivalent) at the time of the initial scholarship disbursement
  • Students must be enrolled in at least six or more units at WHC during all terms in which the award remains active
  • Students must receive a CCC Board of Governor’s Fee Waiver
  • Students must complete 75% of their units with a 2.0 or better
  • Awards will be adjusted on enrollment status and determined as follows:
    • Full time (12+ units per term) = up to $550/semester
    • Three quarter time (9 – 11.9 units per term) = up to $412.50/semester
    • Half time (6 – 8.99 units per term) = up to $275/semester
  • Students may apply for the scholarship a second year

 

Hang T. Phan Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $250

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Chemistry or Science Major
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
Phyllis Roberts Endowed Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must have a declared major
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Student must not have more than 24 units at any other college or university

 

J and R Rodriguez Enterprises Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education
  • Preferred Liberal Studies Major
  • Minimum GPA 2.5

 

Sawyers Memorial Endowed Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education
  • Education major preferred

 

Bob Viets Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of 1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must be enrolled in at 6+ units of Ag or Ag related course study each semester
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Student must have attended an accredited high school in the United States for a minimum of one year
  • Preference given to students whose parent is currently (or within the last 6 months) has been employed in the ag/ranching industry in California

 

Watts Family Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $300

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education
  • Child Development Major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
 
West Hills College Faculty Scholarship
One annual scholarship in the amount of up to $500
  • Student must be enrolled part or full time at Coalinga College
  • Scholarship for full time (15+ units) student is $500
  • Scholarship for part time student is $250
  • First priority goes to a family member of a WHCCD faculty member
  • Second priority goes to a family member of a WHCCD employee

 

West Hills College Rodeo Boosters Scholarship
Students are selected by Coalinga College Rodeo Booster Club

A number of annual scholarships up to the amount of $3,000 each

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must be academically eligible for college rodeo
  • Student eligible for up to a maximum of four semesters
  • Student must be enrolled in the WHC Rodeo program each semester and be a member of or eligible to be a member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association
  • Application must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation for this specific scholarship by the WHC Rodeo program director, who will also recommend an award amount to be given

 

Woodson Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $150

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at Coalinga College
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education
  • Science Major preferred
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

Angela S. Arteaga Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $300

  • Student must be enrolled in 6+ units at an WHC Location
  • Student must be entering freshman, continuing community college or transfer to continue collegiate education
  • Minimum GPA 2.5

 

California League of Food Producers
  • One scholarship in the amount of $500
  • Students must be enrolled full time (15+ units) or part time (6+ units) at any WHC location
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
 
Wakefield Everett Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $100

  • Student must be enrolled at any WHC location
  • Humanities major
  • Student must intend to continue collegiate education in Humanities
  • Student must be graduating that academic year
  • Minimum GPA 3.75

 

High School Equivalency Testing Scholarship

Scholarships available for the cost of high school equivalency test

  • Available to any student who is enrolled in a WHCCD program to complete high school equivalency who doesn't have the financial resources to pay for the test fee
  • Students are not required to be an enrolled in a West Hills College class - but must be involved in one of the high school equivalency test prep programs offered by the district or the Westside Institute of Technology
  • Students must be recommended by their high school equivalency instructors and must have two letters of recommendation and provide evidence of low income status

 

Ed Marco Veterans Scholarship

Three annual scholarships in the amount of $1,200 each

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at any WHC location
  • First priority to entering freshman
  • Second priority to continuing community college student
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Student must meet financial need
  • Student must complete FASFA application
  • Student must provide documentation of military service of at least 4 years
  • Student must not qualify or be eligible for GI benefits
  • Scholarship does not apply to Active Duty service members

 

Teresa Anne Mendes Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at any WHC location
  • Student must be a graduate from Riverdale High School
  • Student must be entering freshman and planning to continue collegiate education
  • Minimum GPA 3.2

 

Padilla Family Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $300

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at any WHC location
  • Priority given to Avenal High School graduates
  • Student must be entering freshman, continuing at WHC, or planning to continue collegiate education
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
 
RCO Ag Credit Endowed Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be enrolled full time (15+ units) or part time (6+ units) at any WHC location
  • Student must be entering freshman, continuing at WHC,  planning to continue collegiate education or vocational program
  • Student must be enrolled in an agriculture program

 

Jack and Bernice Woolf Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Students must be enrolled full time (15+ units) at any WHC location
  • Student must be continuing at WHC, or planning to continue collegiate education or vocational program
  • Ag Science & Technology Major
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Preference given to student athletes, student body officers, club activities and WHC district high school graduates

 

Recurrent Energy Scholarship

Five annual scholarships in the amount of $500

  • Students must be enrolled at least part time (6+ units) at any WHC location
  • Student must be a Tranquillity High School student or graduate
  • Must have an expressed intention to pursue a career in renewable energy, whether it be installation, project development, management, operations and maintenance, communications, project finance/accounting, or research fields
  • Minimum GPA 2.75

 

The Corcoran Promise Scholarship

Scholarship to pay for a Corcoran High School graduate's first year at West Hills College

  • Student must be a Corcoran High School graduate
  • No minimum GPA requirement
  • Scholarship recipients will be expected to conduct 10 hours of community service each semester at a Corcoran non-profit organization
  • Recipients will have the opportunity to participate in a college preparation program: M3 Intervention, which focuses on math, money and time management
