West Hills College Lemoore Student Leader Honored with California Community College's Student Leadership Award

West Hills College Lemoore proudly announces that Aaron Villarreal, a student leader and trustee, has been honored with the California Community College's annual Student Leadership Award. Villarreal was recognized alongside two other outstanding student leaders statewide during the Student Senate for California Community Colleges 27th General Assembly in Long Beach on March 31.

Villarreal, President of the Associated Student Government's Executive Board at West Hills College Lemoore, serves as a student trustee on the West Hills Community College District's Board of Trustees and as a student representative in developing the college's Educational Master Plan and Strategic Plan. He is also the Regional Affairs Director for the Student Senate for California Community Colleges and has chaired a February 2022 Student-Athletes Forum and the 4th and 5th Annual Spring Regional summits.

In addition to his leadership roles, Villarreal actively volunteers with a community food pantry and coordinates its expansion. Aaron also works with high school and middle school students who come from families without a history of attending college and motivates them to pursue higher education. By enrolling, these students become the first in their families to attend college, and Aaron is dedicated to helping them achieve this important milestone.

"Aaron Villarreal is an exceptional leader, and we are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and recognition with the California Community College's annual Student Leadership Award," said West Hills College Lemoore President James Preston. "He has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving his college, community, and fellow students. Aaron is an inspiration to us all."

The Student Leadership Award, established in 2020, recognizes outstanding leadership in college and service in the broader community with a commitment to achieving the goals outlined in the Vision for Success. Villarreal's recognition is a testament to his dedication and hard work, and West Hills College Lemoore is proud to have him as part of its student community.

"I am honored to receive this award and thankful to West Hills College Lemoore and the Student Senate for California Community Colleges for their support," said Villarreal. "Serving others is a responsibility we all share, and I am grateful for the opportunity to impact the lives of those around me positively."
