International Education Week is a yearly opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This year, WHCC celebrated with a range of activities.
WHCC celebrated from November 12-16 with a photo contest, international taste buds event where students were able to sample foods and snacks from many different cultures, a coffee hour and international culture shock panel, and a Thanksgiving dinner for international students.
International Taste Buds event: Students sampled food from Australia, Bulgaria, Mexico, Canada, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Japan, South Korea, China, and Hong Kong. Everyone who participated was given a card from 4 different countries that had information about the food they were going to be trying.
Coffee Hour and Culture Shock Panel: Students who attended the event were offered sweet bread, or conchas, and Starbucks coffee to drink while listening to 3 of our international students and some of our teachers discuss what their experiences were like traveling to a foreign country.
International Thanksgiving: International students celebrated Thanksgiving and learned about different cultures.
