- Information Technology, AS Degree prepares students for careers in various areas of Information Technology (IT). - Introduction to Cybersecurity Certificate of Achievement offers a problem-solving methodology built on key principles that are independent of specific technologies in a vendor neutral environment. The principles taught in this certificate are mappable, stackable, and track to today’s emerging technologies and teach students the security techniques and research skills required to stay on top of today’s ever-changing security environment. This certificate provides comprehensive training to begin a career focused on securing computing assets and information. Join our program to acquire skills and knowledge in the design, application, installation, operation, and maintenance of computer security systems through extensive hands-on experience in this rapidly growing field. This program of study prepares student to take the following certification exams: CompTIA is an ANSI accredited Certifier - 0731. The CompTIA Security+ program is included in the scope of this accreditation. The CompTIA Security+ certification may be kept current through the CompTIA Continuing Education program.
- Networking fundamentals Certificate explains computer networking basics in terms that can be easily understood, using concepts common to everyday, no-computing experience. A brief introduction to networking history provides context, explaining how networks have become so important to businesses and individuals. The certificates emphasizes networking fundamentals, explaining the software and hardware that makes networking possible. The certificate stresses understanding how and why networks work, rather than focusing on memorization of terms or numbers. Upon completion of the certificate, students will perform basic computer networks tasks, such as DSL connectivity or configuring connections to an Internet service provider. This certificate gives student the foundation needed to begin training for the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Administrator) Certification or employment in a computer networking career.
- South Valley Apprenticeship Program allows student to "Earn and Learn" in an on-the-job training setting. Apprentices are hired by partnering employers and paid while they attend coursework at the college. Program fees are waived for apprentices. The apprenticeship program for Computer Network Support Specialist, which is aligned to the Networking Fundamentals Certificate program has been submitted to the California Department of Apprenticeship Standards for approval.
