Course Classification

Courses numbered 1-49 — are baccalaureate level (transfer) courses. Courses thus numbered are transferable to four- year institutions. Agriculture courses are designed to parallel the work taught in similar courses at California Polytechnic State University or at California State University, Fresno but may not carry the same number.

Courses numbered 50-99 — are associate degree level courses. Courses thus numbered are primarily for the student who does not plan to continue his/her education beyond the community college level; however, occupational education courses may transfer according to articulation agreements. Complete information on articulation is available through the Counseling Center.

Courses Numbered 100-201 — are non-transfer and are non-degree applicable; they are skill building or remedial.

College Success
STUDEV 001 is a course which assists students in obtaining skills and knowledge necessary to reach thei educational, career and life objectives. Topics to be covered include orientation to college, motivation, memory development, physiological well being, study skills/techniques, career-life planning, financial literacy, and skills for dealing with personal issues, interpersonal relationships and other life challenges that students encounter throughout the various stages of their lives.

Career Planning
STUDEV 002 examines the career development process and teaches students a quantifiable decision-making process that will help them identify and plan their career/life planning and educational goals. The course focuses on self and career exploration, as well as identifying an education pathway to achieve desired professional goals. Students will identify their interests, values, skills, and personality types as they relate to career/life planning and educational goals.

Ensuring Transfer Success
STUDEV 020 provides in-depth information and assistance with the transfer process from community college to 4-year colleges/universities. Given their academic and career objective, students will explore transfer requirements through active participation in research and planning. Lower-division major and general education requirements, college/university selection, admission procedures, application deadlines, financial aid and scholarship information will be covered.
